On Break For Holidays

Apologies for not posting this notice sooner. That's exactly my frustration these seasons: time!
Lately I've had a big step in my transition: after Christmas I'll be meeting with a doctor to discuss Hormone Replacement Therapy. I'm counting down the days and crossing my fingers!
Also these past few weeks, I've been gathering ideas and outlines for new strips, so the moment I get the time to resume regular posting my only issue will be deciding which to do.
Anyhow, I hate to leave without giving something to tie over. So here's some random art as a treat!

Because let's face it: I'm always going to exfoliate and Korean boy bands are my weakness.
I drew this before attending my first LGBT Pride fest: getting in the spirit, so to speak.
A little graphic I drew for some trans* forums, when I first noticed how I draw my own chest.
Also, I got some new glasses! Unlike my old pair, they're both the correct prescription and guy's frames.

Happy holidays, everyone, and see you in the new year!

Women's Connoishoer

Here's this week's bonus strip, complete with groan-worthy word humor.
Truth be told I love women's fashion, but in the same way I love paintings: I'd rather display the work of art than wrap it around my waist. As for men's fashion, I'm both a frame and a fan.

Grandma's Boys Like Chocolate

Posted twenty-five minutes too late in my time zone! It still counts for the 29th, yes? Yes...?
Somewhere in the world, it does.
Anyhow, it feels good to pick up the pens and paper again. Definitely am glad to be back.

Posting News: Resumption Moved to the 29th, Second Strip This Week

The strip to resume this webcomic's schedule has been moved to be posted tomorrow. I apologize for any nail-biting from these postpones: hopefully tomorrow's strip will make up for it.
Also, because I have broken my promise to resume on the 27th, I will post a second strip for week as well.
Thank you, everyone, for your patience and understanding. -Ulysses

Bulletin For This Week

Due to immediate family matters, there will be no strips on Strapped To The Mast or Uly's Comics this week.
Comics will resume on the 27th.
Thank you for understanding, and back in a week: truly, Ulysses.

Open Mic

Lately I feel like my life has become a questionnaire panel. As best I try to endure it, some times it does get under my skin. So the other day I dug out an old dress and a Halloween wig to remind myself exactly what I finally broke free from: and why it's worth the temporary 'questionnaire panel'.
That being said, I feel pretty optimistic right now.
Also, because I now notice the dialog in panel four may be murky, I'll clarify: I myself am pansexual.

On another note, new strips are scheduled to be posted on Sundays, but if not expect the week's strip for Monday. I should mention I have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, so longer strips like this one often require I pause and come back to illustrating the next day: it's my own fault for not having an accurate gauge of my limits within one day.
Well, that wraps up everything I had to say, so thank you for visiting and have a great day! Back in a week -Ulysses

Schedule for "Strapped To The Mast"

Take that, bugs!
Now that I've posted my time-capsule strip, I can confidently start this webcomic's schedule.

Comics will start as of Monday, and thereafter be posted every Sunday of the week.
If I fail to post I shall punish myself by drinking only two cups of coffee that Sunday. Believe me when I say that is punishment enough: per day I suck down at minimum a twelve-cup pot.
As I like to do on my other webcomic, there may be special posts on holidays, noteworthy occasions, and for visitor landmarks.
Also to come is an 'about' page and a 'Trans* resources' page.

I'm very excited to get the ball rolling: and once it does, I'll be darned if it stops.
Until next time- Uly

Let's Take A Trip.

Introductions Are In Order!

This is my cartoon representation:
midst the throes of writing, that is.

To kick off this blog, I'd like to take a moment and share a little about myself and to say what I hope this web-comic will become.

My name is Ulysses and I'm a recently out transman. Pre-everything, hairs on end, fingers crossed! In a nutshell: I'm an aspiring writer, a highly caffeinated night owl, and arguably a hermit. My coffee's so strong you could stand a spoon in it and I fight more with my fictional characters than actual people. With writing, working as a part-time secretary, and being a hobbyist cartoonist in my free time, I spend most days at a desk.
Otherwise I study psychology for future hopes of making a career as a psychiatrist.

The title of this blog, "Strapped To The Mast", is a reference to the Odyssey. This will be my second web-comic blog. The first one I started, and will continue to update, is quite similar to this one in the way that my inspiration and stories are true to my own life. However, as personal as that other web-comic is, I feel my new journey deserves its own nook. For a long time I have wanted to dedicate strips to this part of my life, and now that I am out to friends and family I have no reason to wait.

I hope this web-comic to be many things. Catharsis for myself: instead of journaling my thoughts and experiences, drawing them. Celebrating the journey: instead of clamming up, letting out. Balancing the act: taking a dose of seriousness with a wash of lightheartedness.

Yet as many reasons I'm doing this for myself, my biggest hope is that it will reach out to others. Friends, family, allies, supporters and individuals of the community I now call my own: the ever-inspiring and awesomely brave 'T' in 'LGBT'.

Before I end my overly sentimental ramblings, I would like to add another mushy thought. Thanks, to my friends and family, who have been there for me from the beginning and will undoubtedly be there until the end. This web-comic is for all of you, too.
Sailing away- Ulysses
